A wildfire broke out Wednesday afternoon along the Colorado River just west of Mittry Lake. According to Rural Metro firefighters, on behalf of BLM, the fire has already burned at least 600 acres and is being fueled by windy weather.
Seven homes in the Bard area near the Arizona border along the Colorado River were saved from a large brush fire Thursday thanks to the courageous efforts of local fire firefighters.
The brush fire was reported about 6 p.m. Thursday evening in the Paradise Cove area along the Colorado River. BLM fire crews responded, assisted by Rural/Metro Fire Department. Friday morning the fire flared up. Video by Terry Ketron/The Sun
A wildfire along the Colorado River near the East Wetlands was quickly extinguished by area firefighters Friday evening. There were no reports of injuries or structures damaged.
